Bioassays Using Daphnia

 

Daphnia in Various Life Stages

Female with asexual (unfertilized) eggs that will develop into
live embryos before being released from the mother's body:

Female with empty brood chamber:

Female with sexual resting eggs encased in tough shells.
These will be released from the female and will hatch when
environmental conditions become favorable:
